    Position Summary

    The Mechanical Engineering Technician I will support design and manufacturing of mechanical equipment and products at an entry level.

    Essential Functions

    • Assists senior level engineers with product development and improvement that may include design, layout, testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electromechanical devices or systems.
    • Partners with senior engineers and Production Management in development of manufacturing processes, equipment, instructions, and other supporting documentation.
    • Performs activities including CAD layout and detailing, bill of material and other MRP system work, and interpretation of specifications and documentation requirements.
    • Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
    • Works with senior engineers to identify, modify, and plan requirements for fabrication, assembly, and testing.
    • Documents changes in design and method of manufacture, and discusses with staff to coordinate corrections.
    • Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards and instructions for newly designed or modified equipment or products.
    • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.

    • Superior computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft operating systems, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), programming basics
    • Basic understanding of solid modeling, 2D cad software, and drawing creation
    • Skilled at hands-on tasks associated with the manufacture and qualification of electromechanical motion systems
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
    • Exceptional organizational skills in order to meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual deadlines
    • Self-directed, self-starter
    • Ability to work as an individual contributor and team player
    • Solid engineering judgment skills
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
    • Knowledge of web based tools for performing vendor searches, component study and general research

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate of Science (AS) degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical, from an accredited college or university required; Bachelor of Science (BS) preferred
    • Zero to two years of related experience and/or training
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.

    Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

    • Work is generally split between an office environment and a manufacturing environment
    • May be required to sit for extended periods of time
    • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
