Job Description Summary
BUYER:
The Buyer performs entry-level purchasing and procurement work under close supervision with minimal latitude for initiative and independent judgement. The Buyer performs general purchasing activities to include, but is not limited to creating purchase orders from requisitions, participate in strategic sourcing initiatives and process solicitations for spot purchases and annual requirements and perform contract administration activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
One (1) year general purchasing experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Suite
Strong time management and planning skills to coordinate and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects in a fast paced environment.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to manage high volume work load with substantial attention to detail.
Ability to work quickly and accurately, and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to perform entry-level purchasing and procurement work.
Ability to work collaboratively and productively with internal and external constituents.
Ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures to formulate logical and effective decisions or solve problems.
Ability to demonstrate and encourage high ethical standards and integrity.
Valid Driver License and ability to be insurable under the College’s insurers.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance or related field.
Strong technical writing skills.
Knowledge of local, state and federal law affecting community college purchasing practices. thorough knowledge of purchasing concepts and principals including advanced purchasing methods such as request for proposals, inter local cooperation contracts, and job order contracting.
Knowledge of methods to manage, execute and administer purchases of complex, high-dollar industrial and specialized equipment and services.
