Media Buyer is responsible for maximizing the impact of advertising campaigns. Coordinates the development and execution of media and advertising plans that support the client's overall marketing strategy, tactics, message, and objectives. Being a Media Buyer uses analytics to design innovative strategies to ensure the client's marketing campaigns reach the target audience. Negotiates media buys, pricing, and media placement scheduling with vendors. Additionally, Media Buyer collaborates with stakeholders and vendors to execute plans and control pacing, optimization, and timelines for campaigns. Conducts research on new media strategies, platforms, and channels to utilize for future campaigns or ongoing campaign evolvement. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager. The Media Buyer work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. - Reviews inventory and determines which items need to be ordered and in what quantities
- Processes purchase orders, transmits to vendors, and ensures timely confirmation of prices, quantities, arrival dates, and receipt
- Ensures purchase orders meet all shipping requirements such as pickup, deliveries, vessel sailings, etc., and manages any discrepancies
- Verifies quantity, quality, and code dates, production, or expiration dates received from vendors
- Provides purchase orders and container schedules to receiving warehouse operations
- Maintains and ensures containers are received in a timely manner
- Communicates with sales, logistics, operations, accounting, and other departments to alert of potential issues and responds in a timely manner to requests for information
- Analyzes and forecasts current and future buying trends
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy
- Ability to compile information and make decisions
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Critical thinking skills and ability to react on short notice
- Constructively communicates and exercises authority as appropriate
Education and Experience:- Perishable experience preferred
- Purchasing background preferred
- At least two years of experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred
Physical Requirements:- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Frequent exposure to chill environment (35-38 degrees Fahrenheit)
