Being a Media Director negotiates client projects and develops client relationships. Ensures client budget and target audience is met. Additionally, Media Director may require a bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. The Special Events & Media Coordinator directs special events of the Communication and Media Department, Downtown Improvement District, Visit Harlingen, and Parks and Recreation Department and serves as the chief liaison related to city-wide events. Will supervise the work of others and serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Plans, supports, develops, markets, and executes festivals, events, and community programs that generate a positive impact and enrich the lives of our community members and visitors. Responsible for building strategic and collaborative relationships with department staff, vendors, external organizations, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to successfully plan, communicate, and facilitate events and programs within the city.
