The support team director is responsible for ensuring customer deployments are functioning properly and working with lower tiers of support as well as escalating to development / engineering as needed (all of these other positions are currently in-house employees located in the US).

People management skills and a desire to help develop people and lead a team is a must.

A solid degree of technical aptitude and problem-solving skills are also required as well as general technical support experience, but necessary training / assistance will be provided for job-specific knowledge. You do not need to be the most technical possible, but at a minimum being sharp and a quick learner and having technical competency above a lower-tier support tech.

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working self-starter with an inquisitive mind. When presented with a problem, this person will think through the issue, attempt to solve it, and involve others if necessary. This will be followed by performing a root cause analysis (RCA) to find and chronicle the source of the problem and be constantly improving our level of support.

SOME KEY DUTIES INCLUDE

• Manage the support team and lead by example
• Respond to customer requests via various channels (such as WhatsApp, email, text message, ticketing system, and phone - though this is not a call center)
• Be a person who others on the various teams can go to for things they need help with / perform leadership duties
• Follow-up on notifications or alerts raised by monitoring systems and support technicians
• Interface with and direct relevant vendors and third-party service companies
• Create systems for others to follow to effectively provide technical support
• Review video as first line or on an investigative basis in response to customer inquiry
• Image and configure computers and other hardware for deployment and perform other duties to aid in deployments
• Provide support across multiple time zones - after hours may be needed, especially as an escalation point, though preferably the others on our 24/7 support team would be provided sufficient training by you to keep this to a minimum and the focus on normal waking hours
• Lead training and documentation for the team

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• 5 years applicable work experience in IT, customer service, or other related fields
• Team management experience
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• A degree in a technology-related field is a plus but other education or experience is accepted as a substitute
• Great communication skills – both verbal and written
• Responsive
• Collaborative spirit; team player with a positive attitude
• Computer networking experience a plus
