Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of experience operating HVAC/Power Generation equipment, and hold a valid Class C Driver’s license with a driving record less than 4 incidence points. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job in a post-offer employment test as administered by UTMB Rehab Services. This job requires that the employee lift up to 50 pounds, floor to knuckle and 50 pounds, knuckle to shoulder and requires frequent bending, standing and walking.
Job Summary:
Perform skilled level operation of plant equipment and machinery typically found in a central plant environment. Maintain the necessary technical skills to repair, maintain, inspect, and operate Utilities production equipment, distribution systems, and energy management equipment.
Specific Job Related Duties:
To perform skilled work in an electrical generation, mechanical and electrical utility or chilling station environment. Responsible for providing assistance to journey-level craftsman in the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical equipment or systems. Installs, maintains, and repairs plant equipment or utility systems. Assists in performing periodic inspections of major mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. Performs preventative or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to the operation of mechanical, electrical or utility tunnel distribution systems in accordance with established procedures. Maintains records of equipment repair. Works in conjunction with trades or craft personnel in support of systems within power plant, chilling station, utility tunnels or other underground utilities. Completes work orders using automated maintenance program systems. Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies. Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas. Identifies and reports safety hazards. Performs related duties as assigned. May attend staff meetings. Attends safety training or meetings. Attends plant operation and maintenance training courses.
Equipment:
General equipment used in allied trades. Standard office equipment for basic computer access and e-mail.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards typical to central plants, and utility distribution systems. May be required to work in tunnels and manholes. May be required to work extended shifts.
Salary Range:
