Position Summary
The Manager-Product Development leads the global development of new solutions to expand Colorcon’s product offerings and maintains being a trusted partner across the pharmaceutical and nutritional value chain.
The Manager-Product Development leads, develops and supports a team of scientists to drive innovation through ideation, new product development and application development.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Develop a strong positive team culture, in line with Colorcon operating principles
• Ensure effective communication channels are maintained between PD, General Managers, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations and Technical teams
• Generates new ideas for PD that satisfy unmet needs of our customers, generates new ideas and evaluate new opportunities through basic feasibility of new ideas
• Drives Stage Gate Process to convert screening projects to development & launch
• Validates developmental new products by organizing voice of customer trials locally and globally
• Prioritizes activities in a fluid environment, ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to the most important projects
• Close attention to trends internally as well as in the industry to establish unmet needs, technical challenges and coordinate justification and obtaining approval of related project pipelines
• Maintains a sound working knowledge of current Colorcon products and competitive technologies
• Develops subject matter expertise in his/her area of specialization including a fundamental understanding of intellectual property in the area
• Leads & energizes Innovation activities within PD team
• Investigates developments of raw material and equipment manufacturers, anticipates new product requirements, and generates new product ideas accordingly
• Publishes and presents applications work supporting Colorcon’s products
• Provides high-level technical support & training to Colorcon technical staff globally & customers as required
• Promotes adherence to good laboratory practices (GLP), safety guidelines and accurate documentation of experiments and activities

Required Qualifications

• M.S. in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field required; Ph.D. is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required; pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership/management/supervisory experience required; preferred experience from within pharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical technology, specifically formulation development and film coating of oral solid dosage forms, is preferred.
• Demonstrated project management ability, demonstrated creativity, excellent problem-solving skills, and strong
• interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
• Informed and aware individual, a decision maker
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven leadership with firm understanding of film coating, core formulation, nutra
• Strongly self-motivated individual who is also a positive team player
• Able to prioritize tasks and act in a fast-paced environment.

Working Location

• This position is an onsite role based in Harleysville, PA.
• Travel: up to 10% annual domestic & global travel may be required.
