As aTechnical Product Development Managerat PPG Packaging Coatings, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and shaping the future of our packaging solutions. Based at our comprehensive development center in Milford, Ohio, you will leverage expertise across multiple disciplines such as analytical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, formulation, and application. The center also features advanced capabilities to mimic manufacturing lines, providing a unique platform to innovate effectively for the packaging industry.

In this position, you will work at the intersection of technology and business, striking a balance between deep technical understanding, customer focus, and commercial acumen. Your mission will be to guide the creation of next-generation coatings that help our customers achieve brand protection, efficiency goals, cost reduction, and improved environmental sustainability. As a leader, you will oversee the development of both internal and external coatings for a diverse range of packaging applications, including beverage cans, food cans, and monobloc cans.

Your role will involve not only leading the technical development but also ensuring that our innovations are commercially viable and meet the specific needs and goals of our customers. You will work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, from research and engineering to marketing and sales, driving a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

The Technical Product Development Manager is a strategic role within our organization. Key Responsibilities

*Assume responsibility for leading an organization of 20 technical professionals, including three supervisors directly managing chemists and technicians.

*Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence, fostering personal growth and team success.

*Develop and execute strategies for new product development in line with PPG's vision and market needs, focusing on brand protection, efficiency, cost-reduction, and environmental sustainability.

*Present technical and project updates to internal and external stakeholders, and represent PPG at industry conferences and events.

*The key focus of this role is developing and commercializing products. Involving the customer early and often will be critical to the success of PPG and our customers.

*Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research, engineering, marketing, sales, and manufacturing to ensure products are commercially viable to meet customer requirements.

*Stay current with industry trends and regulations to ensure our products maintain their leadership position and compliance.

Requirements:

*Requires a degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

*Experience in product development, preferably in the coatings industry.

*Demonstrated experience and the ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.

*Strong understanding of coating technologies, application methods, and industry regulations.

*Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.

*Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and persuasively.

*Willingness to travel as required
