Position Summary:

Serves It Is Written by creating motion graphics for the Media Production department and working alongside production staff. This is an intern role for the summer months of approximately May to August 2024. It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.

Authority & Accountability:

Authority as delegated by and directly responsible to the Media Production Director. Performs all duties in accordance with It Is Written’s policies and objectives.

Essential Position Functions:

• Design and animate data visualizations, infographics, and other b-roll sequences.
• Design and animate title sequences, main-on-ends, and credit scrolls.
• Design and animate logo stingers, and TV idents.
• Create original templates for frequently used elements, such as lower thirds and quote graphics.
• Animate other It Is Written logos and branding elements.
• Advise and provide creative direction feedback to producers and directors.
• Advise and provide graphics and animation feedback to editors.
• Create animations for interactive events, social media platforms, and apps.
• Assist in editing sequences for It Is Written programs, promotional videos, or special events.
• Assist in studio or field productions which may include camera, lighting, and audio setup, teardown, and operation.
• Object removals, camera tracking, and other special effects.
• Assist in virtual set design.
• Inorganic 3D modeling.
• Produce character animation sequences.
• Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Position Specifications:

Qualifications, Scope, and Complexity of Duties:

• Education:

Required: High School diploma

Preferred: Two (2) years of college in animation, video production, or related field

• Experience:

Demonstrated previous projects in motion design

Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:

○   Artistic:

• Firm grasp of animation and graphic design principles.
• Ability to explain and simplify complex topics using design and animation.
• Stays up to date with current motion design trends and emerging concepts that may benefit It Is Written now and in the future.

○   Technical:

• Must have experience in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Familiar with using 3D animation software such as Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, or Unreal Engine.
• Possess knowledge and experience in both production and post-production.
• Passion for using the latest and emerging technologies to better equip evangelism.

• Skilled in giving and receiving constructive feedback.

• Able to exhibit flexibility in adapting to urgent projects or unusual situations.

• Able to gauge the feasibility of proposed projects within limits of given time and resources and alert producers.

○   Other Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Apple Final Cut Pro and Motion.
• Experience in 2D animation software such as Toon Boom Harmony.
• Familiarity using the following software: Davinci Resolve/Fusion, Affinity Photo/Designer, other Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as Premiere, Audition, Compressor, etc., and 2D and 3D animation pipelines.
• Drawing and illustration abilities.

 Working Conditions:

• General working conditions of an office
• Moderate to high stress due to meeting critical daily deadlines
• Prolonged sitting and viewing of computer screens for long periods of time
• Physical requirements: requires standing, walking, time at a desk, reaching, climbing, and lifting (maximum of 30 lbs.)

Specific Requirements:

• Less than 30 regular hours per week
• May occasionally require variable hours and weekend work
• No special clothing or safety gear required
• Business casual attire required in the office setting
