Media Production Director oversees and plans the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of television or web shows, broadcasts, or videos. Completes pre-production processes, including ideation, concept creation, casting, script writing, budgeting, specifications, and scheduling. Being a Media Production Director defines and organizes the technical and logistical resources required for each production. Assembles the required team of production specialists for each production's camera, sound, lighting, and other functions. Additionally, Media Production Director directs post-production editing operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Media Production Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Media Production Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. DIVISION: TV Broadcasting
REPORTS TO: Director of Production
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT: Responsible for the development and production of video content for air, web, and social media including production, editing, graphics, studio set-up, and videography. Must meet both internal and external deadlines in a professional manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the development of content in collaboration with both internal and external teams to accomplish shared goals; including long and short form programming and interstitials.
2. Produces and directs studio and remote productions and edits materials as assigned.
3. Responsible for assisting other producers and writers in the production of their programs as required.
4. Responsible for all aspects of field production to insure a high quality audio/video product.
5. Responsible for studio set-up, lighting, and the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteer production crews.
6. Other responsibilities as required to address specific objectives shared by WNIN and its community partners.
