Media Production Director jobs in La Crosse, WI

WKBT-TV, Western Wisconsin’s number one news source, is looking for a dynamic Sports Director to lead our award-winning sports department. This position requires an energetic personality to complement a vibrant anchor team, a drive to break local sports headlines, and lead the newscast with breaking sports news (good or bad) with the ambition to generate local sports stories without relying on national feeds. The right candidate will take charge of our seasonal, weekly live sports show, ‘Friday Night Frenzy’ and work with news and sales managers to grow the program in reach and revenue while anchoring nightly sportscasts and contributing enterprise content for sweeps coverage.

What you will have the opportunity to do:

• Produce and anchor sports blocks for 6 & 10 PM newscasts.
• Lead the market in sports-related, daily social media/web content.
• Coordinate live coverage of seasonal, weekly sports show, ‘Friday Night Frenzy.’
• Develop relationships with coaches and athletic directors to break stories.
• Shoot, write, and edit sports stories for broadcast and web.
• Manage schedules, timecards, and other supervisory needs for sports dept.

What you will bring:

• Two years on-air experience as sports anchor.
• Demonstrated proficiency with social/digital platforms.
• Passion to serve as leader and mentor to early-career sports journalists.
• Drive to win the market.
• Proficiency with iNews, Avid Media Composer & Adobe Premiere.
