Media Production Director jobs in Oakland, CA

Media Production Director oversees and plans the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of television or web shows, broadcasts, or videos. Completes pre-production processes, including ideation, concept creation, casting, script writing, budgeting, specifications, and scheduling. Being a Media Production Director defines and organizes the technical and logistical resources required for each production. Assembles the required team of production specialists for each production's camera, sound, lighting, and other functions. Additionally, Media Production Director directs post-production editing operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Media Production Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Media Production Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position description

    The Department of Film & Media at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate-level studio courses in creative film and/or digital media production. Course themes could include areas in documentary/essay, dramatic fiction, animation, experimental or other expanded digital-media practices. Technique centered courses in cinematography, sound design and post-production also considered. Studio course design should integrate theoretical and critical approaches to media study into hands-on production technique and forms. Applicants should demonstrate creative and technical expertise, but also a strong commitment to teaching media production within a liberal and fine arts curriculum at a large, diverse, public research university.

    General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities and demonstration of production technologies general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web-based course resources.
