Media Program Director directs and coordinates activities of broadcast and programming personnel. Responsible for scheduling programs and event coverage, coordinating with other departments, working with directors and production staff, and assessing length and content of broadcasts. Being a Media Program Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Media Program Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s).

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Create a work environment that exemplifies the Y’s culture and how we show up and supports ownership and accountability for staff members.
    2. Serve as a key role model and connection point for relationship building, general information, and customer service.
    3. Promote member engagement by encouraging involvement in related Y programs and small communities.
    4. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
    5. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
    6. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
    7. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
    8. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
    9. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
    10. Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
    11. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
    12. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
    13. May assist with Program Committee meetings.
    14. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
      in programs.
    15. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
    3. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
    4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments
      of the community.
    5. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

     

    Within 30 days of hire all employees must complete of  the following trainings:

    • Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff;
    • Working with Program Volunteers;
    • CPR; First Aid; AED;
    • Bloodborne Pathogens and
    • YMCA program-specific certifications.
