Media Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the relations between the media and the organization. Works to expand understanding of the organization's business, performance, and strategy. Being a Media Relations Manager prepares summaries of media activity for senior management. May serve as the company's spokesperson. Additionally, Media Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Media Relations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Media Relations Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. DESCRIPTION:
WKTV NewsChannel 2, the NBC affiliate in Utica, NY, is looking for a Digital Content Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and posting news content and other information on www.wktv.com, WKTV’s full-service website, as well as all of WKTV’s social media sites. He/she will organize web entries, write news stories, supervise story development, coordinate news coverage with the assignment desk and assist in special project planning. Prior website development experience and newsroom experience a plus.
WKTV is an equal-opportunity employer. We produce nine newscasts per weekday, and three newscasts per weekend day.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate must have solid writing skills, including spelling and grammar. He/she will be required to make decisions at a moment’s notice. Good organization and the ability to work well with other employees are required. A four-year college degree preferred.
