Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities:
This is a position for a Medical Assistant to Two Providers.
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer medical record phone calls and input medical records
- Chart prep daily
- Take patients weight, vital signs and do EKGs as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage exam room supplies and ensure they are clean.
- Provide administrative support to the medical office staff
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a medical assistant in a medical office is preferred but willing to train new graduates or CNA certificate is acceptable
- Proficiency in using eClinicalWorks will train if necessary.
- Familiarity with phone systems and ability to handle multiple phone lines
- Knowledge of medical records management and HIPAA regulations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
