Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic pharmacology
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Compassionate demeanor with a focus on patient care and satisfaction
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
