Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. Must have 2 year minimum back office experience With triage, rooming patients, injections, sterile technique, prescription handling, prior authorizations, medical terminology, vitals, handling clinical calls. Experience in check in, check out, insurance verification, copay collections, patient registration, EMR capabilities, e-faxing, medical records, referrals, authorization and NV insurance payers. Must be organized and detail oriented with good time management skills.
