Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Medical Assistant typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

  • Looking for an individual to join a growing medical facility in Southwest Lubbock that provides family medicine, urgent care, sports medicine and physical therapy. Applicants must possess clinical experience and prefer one year healthcare experience. Prefer an individual experience with administering IM injections.

    Responsibilities:

    • Report directly to clinic management
    • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced medical environment
    • Perform general nursing duties under direct supervision of physician or nurse practitioner
    • Assist physician and nurse practitioner in exam rooms with various tasks related to patient care
    • Escort patients to exam rooms, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
    • Assist with lab duties including drawing patients’ blood and completing lab orders
    • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or nurse practitioner
    • Ensure all related reports, labs and information filed are available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
    • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
    • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
    • Assist with messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and nurse practitioner

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

    Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
