Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. This Medical Assistant, Full Time position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties.
The Medical Assistant ensures proper functioning of this position by:- Assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State.
- Recording documentation in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline.
- Assist with daily admiistrative duties, including covering the front desk, answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
- Accurately files patient charts; including scanning documents into files as necessary.
- Schedules patient appointments as necessary, return visits and Specialists.
