Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision.     POSITION SUMMARY

    This position provides general clinical office support related to patient care, working behind the scenes ensuring medical assistants have all essential tools and supplies available to perform their role with patients. 


    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    This position reports to Practice Manager.


    DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

    • Assist with managing call volume and fill in where needed 
    • Order supplies
    • Organize storage spaces and other common areas
    • Refill lab draw baskets
    • Prepare recycling for vendor pick up
    • Collect and package hazardous waste
    • Verify and pull expired inventory items
    • Autoclave
    • Stock patient exam rooms

    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
    • Must have working knowledge of electronic medical records
    • Computer knowledge and skills required
    • Ability to work independently and as a team
    • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Good judgment and decision-making skills
    • Ability to uphold patient confidentiality with the utmost professionalism
