Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. 1st shift (flexible hours from 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
Answer and document telephone calls. Escort/assist patients to rooms. Take and record patient vitals. Prepare patient for and assist with exams, procedures and wound and incision dressing changes. Must be a team player and great customer service skills. Will discuss patient questions with provider and relay information back to the patient via phone/web.
Requirements
Applicant must be a Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant. Previous physician office experience and experience using Electronic Health Record software preferred. Applicant must be able to multitask, enjoy working with people and be a team player.
