Medical Billing Clerk is responsible for reviewing, researching, coding, and generating third party billing for a medical facility. Completes and verifies ICD-10 coding. Being a Medical Billing Clerk inputs and maintains all payment records in database or systems. Performs basic customer service for routine patient or other inquiries. Additionally, Medical Billing Clerk requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Billing Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS:
1. Responsible for patient billing and accounts receivable.
2. Compiles and submits claims to patients and outsource patient pay agencies to secure reimbursement for services/supplies rendered.
3. Follows claims to resolution using an affective tracking system.
4. Maintains patient financial records.
5. Employs accepted collection methods to collect on past due accounts.
6. Examines insurance explanation of benefits to assure correct payment due from patient.
7. Prepares aging of patient accounts on a monthly basis.
8. Receives patient phone calls and researches inquiries.
9. Bills facility invoices for DME products.
10. Performs other tasks as assigned.
