Medical Billing Clerk is responsible for reviewing, researching, coding, and generating third party billing for a medical facility. Completes and verifies ICD-10 coding. Being a Medical Billing Clerk inputs and maintains all payment records in database or systems. Performs basic customer service for routine patient or other inquiries. Additionally, Medical Billing Clerk requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Billing Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. This is primarily a remote position, with 2 days per week required in the office located in Savannah, TN.
JOB SUMMARY
The Remote Medical Billing Specialist processes hospital and patient billing for reimbursement.
Generates patient statements and other invoices. Responsibilities may include data entry, posting payments, reconciling billings and invoices, checking balances and maintaining patient files.
Works with insurance companies to perform insurance billing, review, and verification of accounts in accordance with program provisions.

Reports to the Medical Billing Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
High School diploma or GED Equivalent required. Some college business training.
Work Experience
Must have six months to one (1) year general office experience. Medical billing hospital billing experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collects, posts, and manages patient billing payments
Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
Maintaining records of medical billing and claims, settlements, and medical insurance.
Answers questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies
Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
Assigns different corresponding codes to make sure that a medical facility is accurately billed.
Verifies diagnoses and procedures with the physicians to avoid discrepancies.
OTHER DUTIES
May review and analyze the SSI billing reports to ensure accurate billing and receipt of claims.
Reviews the SSI Claims to ensure that all claims are being sent electronic.
Performs other related duties as required.
