Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Records Clerk. As a Medical Records Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining and organizing patient medical records in a medical office setting. This is an essential role that ensures accurate and efficient record-keeping for the healthcare facility.

Duties:

- Collect, organize, and maintain patient medical records/charts in accordance with established procedures and guidelines

- Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information

- Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements

- Retrieve and file medical records as needed

- Assist healthcare providers in locating specific patient records when requested

- Maintain an organized filing system for easy retrieval of records

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate documentation of patient care

- Follow proper procedures for record retention and disposal

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical office administration is a plus

- Previous experience working with medical records or in a medical office setting preferred

- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic understanding of healthcare practices

- Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems

- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
