We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining patient records. This is a crucial role in our healthcare organization, as you will play a key part in ensuring accurate billing and efficient revenue cycle management.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-9 and other coding systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal when necessary
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients
- Maintain accurate patient billing records and update as necessary
- Collaborate with medical providers and staff to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-9, CPT)
- Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
- Proficient in using medical billing software/systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CMS 1500
- Knowledge of medical collections processes
