Medical Coder & Billing Specialist

Location: Dayville, CT

Medical Coder & Billing Specialist Description:

United Services, Inc. is seeking a Medical Coder & Billin Specialist for the Dayville, CT location. This position is primarily responsible for Primary Care coding and billing to ensure compliance and maximum reimbursement.

Other Duties:

• Assign codes to medical procedures and diagnoses and comply with all medical coding guidelines and policies
• Review patient notes following the visit to ensure documentation meets the insurer's requirements for the purpose of reporting and processing claims for reimbursement
• Make sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequences appropriately as per government and insurance regulations
• Research, analyze, recommend and facilitate a plan of action to correct discrepancies and prevent future coding purposes.
• Assist supervisor in orienting, training and mentoring, other Client Account staff for coding purposes.

United Services requires all employees to be vaccinated against Influenza annually.

Medical Coder & Billing Specialist Schedule:

• Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Medical Coder & Billing Specialist Salary Range:

• $18.14 - $20.52 per hour depending on experience
• Bilingual Spanish/English Fluency $19.06 - $21.56 depending on experience

Medical Coder & Billing Specialist Minimum Requirements: Associates Degree plus two years relevant experience or High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of relevant experience required. Medical Coding Certificate preferred.

Skills:

• Experience in health care billing, claims processing or managed care.
• Word processing/computer system experience.
• Good time management and organizational skills, strong customer service skills and the ability to work with confidential information.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
