Billing Specialist (Full-Time)

Castle Rock Hospital District is accepting applications for a Full-Time Billing Specialist.

Summary of Job:

This person will manage and ensure the operation of patient billing, insurance, collections, and payments as needed. The main focus of this position will be the collections part of the job functions.

Essential Job Functions:

• Billing:
  • Acts as data entry clerk for patient billing.
  • Prepares and mails monthly accounts receivable statements.
  • Handles inquiries regarding patient accounts.
  • Ensure accuracy of patient billing, financial and insurance information.
  • Verifies daily closing reports for business office.
  • Handles all Rural Health Clinic billing, logs, etc.
• Insurance:
  • Bills insurance companies for services rendered to patients/residents within CRHD.
  • Coordinates all open claims with applicable insurance carriers.
  • Completes all inquiries with insurance claims and resolves all insurance problems.
  • Acts as data entry clerk for patient billing when assigned.
  • Prepares and mails monthly accounts receivable statements.
  • Handles patient account inquiries.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.
  • Takes care of all secondary insurance crossover duties.
• Collections:
  • Respond to questions about past due accounts.
  • Maintain current files on patient personal status, i.e., address, phone, employer.
  • Contact patients for receipt of past due accounts.
  • Oversees collection process of past due accounts.
  • Generates and maintains “Bad Debt” files.
  • Oversees applications for indigent care.
• Payments:
  • Posts payments received to patient accounts.
  • Ensures accuracy of insurance payments with contracts.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED required. (Associate degree or higher preferred)
• Proficient in the use of a number keypad, familiar with computers and other standard office equipment.
• Position requires typing skills of at least 55/3.
• Minimum 2-years’ experience in medical business office setting.
• Bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Data entry experience preferred.
