Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the preparation of medical bills and invoices, the calculation of provider charges, and verification of patient insurance. Maintains insurance documents and contracts. Being a Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the submission of claim reports and filing procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, Medical Billing Supervisor evaluates billing processes and procedures and assists management in developing revisions. Monitors the revenue cycle activities and resolves any issues. Duties:
- Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-10 and/or ICD-9 coding systems
- Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and eligibility for billing purposes. Obtain prior authorizations as needed
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies or other third-party payers
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and resubmit claims as necessary
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or obtain additional information
- Data entry into our electronic health records (EHR) system. This will include typing of daily patient office notes.
Experience:
- Previous experience in medical billing or related field preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
- Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Understanding of insurance claim submission processes and reimbursement guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing procedures
