Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the preparation of medical bills and invoices, the calculation of provider charges, and verification of patient insurance. Maintains insurance documents and contracts. Being a Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the submission of claim reports and filing procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, Medical Billing Supervisor evaluates billing processes and procedures and assists management in developing revisions. Monitors the revenue cycle activities and resolves any issues. Needs to be familiar with ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS Coding Systems as well as claim forms such as CMS-1500 and UB-04. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Billing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. This position plans, organizes, and manages the activities related to the Finance Department’s utility billing division, including supervising the division’s employees, and providing technical and customer service support for daily operations, accurate billing and maintenance of utility billing records.
This is a supervisory position whose work performed requires the application of professional knowledge and expertise as well as established guidelines and alternatives to determine facts, analyze problems and make decisions. Incumbents operate independently and make decisions without immediate review and select appropriate methods to accomplish project assignments.
