Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the preparation of medical bills and invoices, the calculation of provider charges, and verification of patient insurance. Maintains insurance documents and contracts. Being a Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the submission of claim reports and filing procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, Medical Billing Supervisor evaluates billing processes and procedures and assists management in developing revisions. Monitors the revenue cycle activities and resolves any issues. Needs to be familiar with ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS Coding Systems as well as claim forms such as CMS-1500 and UB-04. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Billing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Duties:
- Accurately post payments received from patients and insurance companies into the billing system
- Review and reconcile payment discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Identify and resolve any issues related to payment posting, such as missing or incorrect information
- Maintain and update patient accounts with payment information
- Prepare and submit reports on payment activities to management as needed
- Answer phone calls and emails regarding billing concerns and patient accounts
- Submit insurance claims electronically and by mail, resolving any errors which occur
Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical coding systems, such as ICD-10
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with medical records and billing processes
- Previous experience in payment posting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Commitment to phone and email etiquette
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
