Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the preparation of medical bills and invoices, the calculation of provider charges, and verification of patient insurance. Maintains insurance documents and contracts. Being a Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the submission of claim reports and filing procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, Medical Billing Supervisor evaluates billing processes and procedures and assists management in developing revisions. Monitors the revenue cycle activities and resolves any issues. Needs to be familiar with ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS Coding Systems as well as claim forms such as CMS-1500 and UB-04. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Analyze claims prior to submission to ensure accurate processing. Proactively follow up with insurance company for payment, corrected claims, and appeal processes. Work closely with Practice Manager to identify trends with charges and payments as a direct result of the insurance carrier adjudicating claims improperly. Ensure refunds are done timely and in accordance with individual insurance contracts.
