Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the preparation of medical bills and invoices, the calculation of provider charges, and verification of patient insurance. Maintains insurance documents and contracts. Being a Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the submission of claim reports and filing procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, Medical Billing Supervisor evaluates billing processes and procedures and assists management in developing revisions. Monitors the revenue cycle activities and resolves any issues. Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate diagnosis codes (ICD-10) and procedure codes (CPT)
- Verify patient information and insurance coverage for billing purposes
- Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on any denials or rejections
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues on unpaid claims
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in medical billing or related field preferred
- Certification in medical billing and coding (such as CPC or CCS) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Familiarity with insurance guidelines and reimbursement processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing procedures
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
