Durable Medical Equipment/Front End Retail Manager

Job Summary:

The DME/ Retail Store Manager holding this position is responsible for management of day-to-day DME store operations. This includes maximizing store sales and profitability, managing expenses, ensuring that the store is optimally stocked and that all customers are provided with excellent customer service.

DME Store Manager:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise DME & front-end personnel.
• Maintain knowledge on software used for DME and Front End
• Follow personnel policy procedures and standards and apply them to the management staff.
• Assist customers find products on shelves or order from catalog as needed
• Explain product uses to customers and staff.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and making sure products are displayed properly.
• Train all new employees in the Medical Supply or Front-End department
• Train current/incoming staff on Medicare/Insurance guidelines needed for dispensing.
• Demonstrate products to customers and employees as needed.
• Work within the department making sales which include: fitting garments, answering phones, processing orders, coordinating deliveries, cleaning equipment, assist employees as needed
• Attitude should be positive at all times since this is a very focal point of the store
• Keep the DME area clean and clear for customer traffic.
• Help find solutions to run department more efficiently.
• Address issues that require the need of a manager (staff issues, patient issues, etc.) as needed
• Manage inventory when items need changed to other options due to reimbursement or supply chain issues.
• Regular (weekly or monthly) meetings with DME Billing to help address billing issues and educate staff.
• Confirm or train staff to confirm DME orders and verify we have correct information before processing.
• Enforce rules/requirements on staff when needed.
• Complete yearly evaluations on DME/Front staff
• Ensures that the documentation required for reimbursement is secured in a timely manner
• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of Commerical and Medicare insurance regulations
• Promote excellent customer service skills within the store
• Interviews and hires staff as needed with emphasis on recruiting best-qualified candidates
• Conducts in-service training for staff members at routine intervals on products, telephone techniques, or other relevant topics as necessary
• Establish and maintain employee work schedules
• Maintains all company manuals necessary for location operations
• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications Required:

• Medical or Healthcare Industry experience
• Must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communications and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess strong leadership skills, can motivate and influence others
• Maintain professional demeanor thought all interactions with staff and customers

Preferred qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree in any medical related field with certifications or equivalent experience in Home/Durable Medical Equipment, Health Industry, or Retail with medical certification
• Durable Medical experience
• 1-3 years’ supervisory experience
• 3 years’ experience in either Home Health Industry, nursing, respiratory therapist, or pharmacy technician.
