Medical Device Lab Technician works in a laboratory setting, producing medical devices such as prosthetics or orthotics, implants, or other devices. Configures and constructs devices to specifications established by a physician or other health care provider. Being a Medical Device Lab Technician utilizes tools and precision instruments to result in customized fit, optimal function, and maximum comfort for the patient. Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles defective or worn devices or appliances. Additionally, Medical Device Lab Technician works closely with the Orthotist or Prosthetist. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Device Lab Technician works under moderate supervision.     Qualifications Required:

    Education:
    •  AS degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent experience.

    • Experience: 2-3 years in electronics servicing, assembly, or testing.
    • Ability to interpret electronic schematics to troubleshoot electromechanical assemblies
    • Ability to identify electronic components and the proper placement
    • Proper use of test equipment including Fluid flow, Oscilloscope, DMM, and Patient Simulators
    • Proficient in soldering techniques in accordance with IPC-610 or equivalent
    • Proper working knowledge and understanding of ESD
    • Good customer service communication skills
    • Flexible hours to be able to cover the evening shift when needed
    • Available to travel when required

    General Job Description (This description does not necessarily constitute the complete list of duties that may be required):

    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair down to component-level RMA units that have been returned from customer
    • Perform PCBA, Unit, and Top-level tests according to approved Test Procedures
    • Record and maintain all manufacturing device documentation
    • Perform necessary upgrades to the current revision level on all customer repair units as needed
    • Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades to the current revision level on all LOANER units as needed
    • Communicate with Manufacturing and Quality Control regarding customer-related issues
    • Provide customers with technical assistance and support in troubleshooting device problems and operational questions over the phone or by email
    • Work cross-departmentally to ensure rapid issue resolution
    • Maintain test equipment and a clean organized work area
