Job Description:
The physician in this position will be a clinical leader who will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and guidance in the overall design, development, implementation and evaluation of participants deploying to Antarctica.
The Associate Medical Director will report to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Center for Polar Medical Operations (CPMO) and in that capacity will collaborate with UTMB CPMO staff, UTMB in-ice caregivers, Antarctic Support Contract staff and members of the health team of the National Science Foundation.
This position will ensure compliance with physical qualification guidelines as published by the National Science Foundation and ensure timely and appropriate support of the physical qualification process and in managing the delivery of health care in austere Antarctic environs. The primary work location for this position will be on the UTMB Galveston campus with the opportunity for some remote work once established in the role. Travel to Antarctica as needed is required.
