Medical Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's medical policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Being a Medical Director ensures all clinical programs are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Researches and studies current medical publications and data on new treatments and practices to ensure high quality clinical service offerings. Additionally, Medical Director advises non medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Requires a MD degree. Typically reports to top management. The Medical Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Medical Director typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    • Manages Medical Staff function for processing all credentialing of new applicants and reappointments of all Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff.
    • Coordinates schedule of Medical Staff meetings. Serves as Medical Staff database administrator for Meditech.
    • Ensures currency of Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations with updates as needed.
    • Prepares and distributes Emergency Department call schedule.
    • Audits/monitors MSO software for malpractice insurance and licensure on Medical Staff and AHP staff.
    • Coordinates schedule of Medical Staff meetings, i.e. agenda, minutes, follow-up, etc.
    • Serves as resource with extensive knowledge of JCAHO guidelines for Medical Staff Office.
    • Serves as resource with extensive knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws.
    • Serves as Medical Staff Database Administrator of Physician Directory in Meditech system.
    • Ensures currency of Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations with updates as needed.
    • Responds to verification request from managed care entities and hospitals.

    What qualifications you will need:

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with a hospital medical staff.

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

    • CMSC preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • MSO – PrivPlus Medical Staff software experience preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and policy/procedures and JCAHO regulations governing Medical Staff activities.
