Medical Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's medical policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Position is hybrid work, performed partly remote and partly on-site, depending on operational need. Employee will be based in Albuquerque, NM or Killeen, TX. In addition, Employee will be required to travel up to 50% to bases other than their primary base.
Job Summary
Responsible for managing the business operations of multiple Air Ambulance Bases, including responsibility for profitability. Oversees and maintains the efficient, safe, and profitable provision of fixed wing aircraft air ambulance services in the supported geographic regions. Manages a minimum of three air ambulance bases at one time. Facilitates and coordinates the scheduling of assigned Flight Operations and Patient Care personnel and equipment. Ensures assigned resources perform work in a compliant, safe manner in accordance with standards set by relevant stakeholders within the organization, including the Flight Operations (Air Carrier) and the Medical Flight Administration (Patient Care) Departments. Supports the efforts of business development personnel to pursue and acquire new business and related service agreements. Must have a background in providing Patient Care. Periodically flies on missions and provides patient care services to maintain operational awareness and evaluate quality of service.
Essential Tasks/Functions:
· Ensures profitability of Air Ambulance Bases using resources assigned (matrixed) by other Departments.
· Ensures Air Ambulance Bases adhere to budgets and appropriately control costs.
· Ensures business operations comply with all commercial aviation and healthcare industry regulatory and other constraints, as defined and enforced by the represented licensed entities within the organization.
· Ensures business operations conform to organizational and third party requirements, such as healthcare and aviation industry accreditation and other entities.
· Coordinates the scheduling of resources to meet operational needs.
· Responds quickly, safely, and efficiently to problems that arise while providing service and provides leadership.
· Monitors business and operational metrics to identify causes for success and shortcomings, to improve results.
· Reports directly to the Senior Vice President-Medical Flight Operations. Regularly works with other Vice Presidents and Directors across many areas of expertise to accomplish the mission and achieve goals.
· Supervises the business work of Air Ambulance Base Managers to resolve issues, provide guidance, and facilitate performance. Does not supervise provision of patient care.
· Supervises the business work of Pilots in Command to resolve issues, provide guidance, and facilitate performance. Does not supervise performance of flight operations.
· Plans and executes the opening or closing of air ambulance bases as required.
· Meets with potential customers, customers, healthcare providers and facilities, and other entities as required to support business growth and profitability.
· Contributes input to performance appraisals of assigned/matrixed flight operations and medical personnel.
· Perform Patient Care Services as a licensed Registered Nurse or Paramedic.

o EMS-RN or certification/licensure as required by state regulations
For Paramedics:
o NRP Certification
For all candidates:
Background: Must pass Drug & Alcohol Test and background investigation.
Computer Skills: Proficient with MS Office Products.
Identification: May require the ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport (or foreign equivalent) depending on specific job duties.
Physical:
· Must display a full, unrestricted range of motion in all limbs, joints, neck, back and waist.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Four Year Degree in Healthcare, Aviation, Business, or other directly relevant field of study.
Experience: Healthcare Industry Program/Project/Operations Management, Aviation Industry, Air Ambulance Transportation (including MEDEVAC/CASEVAC), or any combination thereof.
Personal: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and appearance.
