The Director is responsible for planning, organizing and influencing department activities and enduring maintenance of hospital medical records while maintaining continuous quality improvement. The Director maintains operations within budgetary parameters. Effectively interacts with patients, their significant others and other health team members, while maintaining standards of professional service.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Must be knowledgeable regarding the Health Information Management Department process and its application and evaluation of qualitative issues.
2. Three to five years experience in a HIM Department, in an acute care setting; required.
3. Minimum two years HIM management / supervisory experience; required.
4. Successful completion of college level courses in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and coding
5. ICD and CPT knowledge; required.
6. Successful completion of an education program for Registered Health Information Technician (R.H.I.T.),or Registered Health Information Administrator (R.H.I.A.); required.
7. Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in a related field; preferred.
