POSITION SUMMARY  

The Medical Interpreter will provide accurate interpretation and translation of medical visits to patients on behalf of providers and the clinical care team. who are seeing and serving patients who cannot speak or understand English, when specifically required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Precisely and accurately interprets information from the provider and clinical care team from English to the native language. 
• Assists in translating medical text from English to Spanish on behalf of patients; may translate patient education information as specifically requested.
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and staff.
• Adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and to the National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care. 
• Assists with patient follow-up as necessary, including contacting patients with appointment reminders.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality by organization policies and standards.
• Performs all other job-related duties as assigned or requested by the Manager or Director 

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent 
• At least 2 years of experience in healthcare or interpreting 
• Written and Oral Interpreter/Translator Certificate or Certificate of Competency from an approved Interpreter/Translator training program
