Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Being a Medical Laboratory Technician operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Additionally, Medical Laboratory Technician records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards. Requires an associate degree in laboratory technology, science or equivalent. Requires valid certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from ASCP or AMT. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Laboratory Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Pacific Medical Laboratory is currently hiring for a night shift, full-time, Mon-Fri MLT position. We can accommodate flexibility in the start time, as early as 8:30pm as late as 10pm. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Accessioning and processing orders/samples
- Running samples for coagulation, hematology, chemistry, immunoassay, microbiology and urinalysis and accepting results through our LIS
- Reading and accepting automated urinalysis microscopy
- Performing routine daily preventive maintenance, calibrations and QC
1-on-1 training to be provided on sight with our morning shift MLT and CLS. We anticipate training to take no longer than 1-2 weeks prior to transition to night shift. We prefer candidates who are looking for a long-term commitment and are interested in growing and developing into a managerial position for the night shift.
