Medical Laboratory Technician jobs in Gainesville, FL
Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Being a Medical Laboratory Technician operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Additionally, Medical Laboratory Technician records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards. Requires an associate degree in laboratory technology, science or equivalent. Requires valid certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from ASCP or AMT. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Laboratory Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school graduate and completion of AHCA-approved, 12-month training program or equivalent.
- One year laboratory experience as a medical laboratory technician is preferred.
- Requires licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a medical lab technician in the state of Florida.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:- Requires licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a medical lab technician in the state of Florida.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
