Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Being a Medical Laboratory Technician operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Additionally, Medical Laboratory Technician records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards. Requires an associate degree in laboratory technology, science or equivalent. Requires valid certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from ASCP or AMT. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Laboratory Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Running and approving CBCs
Experience processing, running and reporting CBC results.
Specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology and Immunology specimens
QC Documentation
Experience processing specimens
Ability to update records with clear documentation
Associates degree in medical technology or laboratory science
DUTIES:
Duties of the Medical Lab Tech include but are not limited to the following:
Perform all laboratory functions laboratory testing
Run and approve CBCs on a Sysmex XN-1000i or Sysmex XN-550 preferred
Process, run and report CBC results.
Process in-house and in-coming results for charting
Perform specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology and Immunology specimens
Reviews, interprets laboratory tests for acceptability
Reports clear, concise and legible results
Maintains neat, clean and organized laboratory
