    Job Description

    MLS Construction, a small construction firm, is looking for a Site Supervisor. The Site Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the on-site operations and ensuring the smooth execution of construction projects. While overseeing the construction of new homes and remodels of older homes for residential construction, this role would also be doing the same in commercial buildouts and small commercial ground up construction. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all plans, specifications, and subcontractor quotes and quality of work are followed to the highest level of quality and efficiency. This person will also be expected to maintain a safe and clean job site, as well as provide leadership and guidance to team members. Their responsibilities may vary depending on the specific needs of the company and the project. Here are some common job responsibilities for a Site Supervisor in a small construction firm:

    Essential Duties

    • On Site Coordination: Oversee day to day construction activities at the site, including the interpretation of plans, managing subcontractors, suppliers, and laborers. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to project plans and specifications
    • Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality standards to ensure that construction work meets or exceeds project requirements. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any deficiencies or deviations from the plans
    • Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a safe work environment. Conduct regular safety inspections, ensure adherence to safety regulations, and address any safety concerns promptly.
    • Resource Management: Manage and coordinate the allocation of resources, including materials, equipment, and labor and labor quotes. Ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively to meet project deadlines and budgets
    • Progress Monitoring: Monitor the progress of construction work and compare it against the project schedule. Identify potential delays or issues and take appropriate actions to mitigate them. Keep the project manager and other stakeholders informed about the project's progress
    • Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact between the on-site team, subcontractors, suppliers, and the project manager. Facilitate effective communication, resolve conflicts, and ensure that information flows smoothly among all parties involved
    • Change Management: Assess and manage changes to the project scope, plans, and specifications. Communicate changes to relevant stakeholders, update project documentation, and ensure that work proceeds according to the revised requirements
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up to date project documentation, including work logs, safety records, and progress reports. Ensure that all required permits and inspections are obtained and documented appropriately
    • Problem Solving: Identify and address issues, conflicts, and challenges that arise during construction. Troubleshoot problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with the project team to implement effective resolutions
    • Client Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing their concerns, and providing updates on the project's progress. Ensure excellent customer service and strive to meet or exceed client expectations
    • Budget and Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs, keeping track of expenses, labor hours, and materials used. Report any cost variations or potential risks to the project manager and work on implementing cost saving measures
    • Site Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure that the construction site is clean, organized, and safe. Promote good housekeeping practices and manage waste disposal appropriately

    Experience & Qualifications

    • 4 - 6 years of experience supervising construction projects in Tennessee (required)
    • Construction supervisor experience (required)
    • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, plans, and subcontracts (required)
    • Order of construction knowledge (required)
    • Construction experience in residential and commercial construction (required)
    • Valid driver’s license and vehicle (required)
    • Laptop and Smart Phone (required)
    • Construction estimating experience (preferred)
