Medical Librarian (MLS) provides guidance and assistance to users researching medical information using database searches, inter-library loans, and other resources. Ensures the cataloging and circulation of materials are performed efficiently and correctly according to policies and standards. Being a Medical Librarian (MLS) creates training materials and delivers library instruction and education programs for physicians and other staff. Leads or contributes ideas for library strategic planning, quality initiatives, and the development of digital media and educational resources. Additionally, Medical Librarian (MLS) maintains current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Librarian (MLS) occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • The Library Media Specialist will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the high school Library Media Center. This individual will work directly with the Department Chairs and Guidance Department to support the teachers and students of Wareham High School and the overall vision for the Library Media Center. Qualified candidates should additionally demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, collaborate to develop lesson plans, engage student learners, and participate in professional development to further enhance their own skills.Candidates must have solid research and technology skills to assist students in the early stages of developing research skills to supporting access to research databases in a 1:1 environment. The Librarian also serves as the schools expert on best practices in conducting research and the ethical, lawful use of found information -- e.g.

    copyright and properly cited attribution. Furthermore, the Library Media Specialist will maintain and promote a collection of high interest and relevant fiction and nonfiction that supports curriculum and engages students grades 8-12. This is an exciting opportunity for Librarians who seek an environment that supports their creativity, expertise, and innovation.Responsibilities include: Develop and implement long-range goals of the library media center program with faculty, administration and students that reflect the mission, goals, and objectives of the schoolCoordinate and oversee the WHS Online Learning Program (Edgenuity, VHS)\Create a welcoming student-centered, flexible library space that supports a variety of learning and social activitiesWork with classroom teachers to promote the library as a space that supports project-based learning and interdisciplinary learning opportunitiesSupport, teach and model use of the WHS E-Portfolio (Google Sites) for both students and teachers Coordinate the scheduling of the Senior Exit InterviewsPublicize and promote the library media center programs, services, and materials. Highlight activity in the library through the web page and other relevant social media accounts (twitter, Instagram)Cull outdated and irrelevant titles and build a collection of high interest fiction and nonfiction titlesSupport, teach and model digital citizenship initiatives to promote the ethical use of library resourcesReview, maintain and promote use of the digital databases and conduct research skills and database training workshops for teachers and students grades 8-12Host monthly library social learning events such as, book groups, TED Talks, open mic, and work with faculty interested in hosting events like guest speakers or Poetry Day, to support a variety of learning opportunities in the Library Media CenterOrganize materials, resources, equipment, and space to support learning.Build and maintain expertise in a wide range of resources and technologyModel and promote effective uses of technology for learning and teachingParticipate in ongoing professional development activitiesCoordinate the acquisition and circulation of library media materialsCollaborate with teachers, administrators, and others to develop and publicize policies and procedures that advocate compliance with copyright and other relevant laws.Remain NEASC proficient with current NEASC library standards Maintain and/or current IB training requirementsAny other duties as directed by the WHS Principal
