Position Title: Medical Assistant (preferred CMA or LPN)

General Position Overview
At Advocate Radiation Oncology our mission is ‘patients first’. The Medical Assistant will be one of the first points of contact to provide both medical and administrative support to patients and doctors through a variety of responsibilities. Note: This position will have dual coverage responsibilities in an upcoming Wellen Park location.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Interview patients and document basic medical history including vital signs and updated medications and be able to appropriately document in the patients EMR
· Complete medical forms and obtain appropriate signatures. Document all activities according to defined guidelines in a timely manner by including thorough and complete information and properly identifying self on all patient records
· Identify abnormal assessments of findings, communicating findings to physician and document assessment findings in the appropriate format
· Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
· Assist during medical examinations and in office procedures
· Follow up on patient results and communicate them with the physician
· Organize and schedule appointments for patients being referred for outpatient testing or another physician appointment
· Obtain referral appointments, prior authorizations, and medicine for patients as needed
· Update and scan medical records and insurance reports and any other documents related to the continuity of patient care.
· Assist in the education process for the patient
· Maintain appropriate compliance, OSHA and HIPAA documentation
· Work closely with physicians, physician extenders and other members of the office staff to provide quality care to our patients
· Demonstrate performance consistent with the mission and goals of the practice and organization; remain flexible to changing systems; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and visitors with consideration and respect
Qualifications / Requirements:
o Proven work experience of at least 1 year as a medical assistant, medical secretary, CMA, or LPN
o Knowledge of medical office systems and procedures
o Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
o Social perceptiveness and service oriented
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Strong organizational and planning skills
o Proficiency in electronic medical record and practice management software as well as QPP
