Being a Medical Policy Specialist establishes the proper codes to use for claims processing. Responds to questions from medical staff and communicates details about policy and guidelines. Additionally, Medical Policy Specialist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Requires Registered Nurse RN. The Medical Policy Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Responsibilities :

    • Analyze, design, implement, and direct the credentials program for the embedded providers at Cannon Air Force Base.
    • Provide expert knowledge and guidance on credentialing and privileging.
    • Ensure that the medical, dental, and allied health professional staff are qualified and competent to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the beneficiary population.
    • Integrate Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Department of Defense, Air Force, Major Command, and external accrediting agency policies and standards to maximize the quality and delivery of healthcare.
    • Collaborate with the 27 SOMDG Commander, Chief of Medical Staff, Chief Nurse, Quality Services Manager, executive staff, and all medical, dental, and allied health professionals to provide expert knowledge and guidance on credentialing and privileging to support the mission's success.

    Qualifications :

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Extensive experience in medical staff credentialing and privileging.
    • In-depth knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards and external accrediting agency policies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
    • Ability to stay updated with industry trends and best practices in medical staff credentialing and privileging.
