    POSITION SUMMARY: 
    The HIM Clerk is responsible for filing dictations and other information in chart. Supply medical staff with required forms and documents. Process admission and discharge folders and face sheets. Retrieve, assemble and analyze and clear medical records accurately and in a timely fashion. Maintain records in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern medical records. Protect medical records from loss or defacement prior to the end of retention periods. Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records. Perform release of information functions in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern medical records.


    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

    High school graduate or equivalent required, and additional Medical Records/secretarial training preferred. Experience equivalent in work such as filing, typing (40 wpm) and computer experience using Microsoft applications, i.e. Word/Excel/ Power Point/Outlook preferred.

    SKILLS:

    1. Knowledge of ICD, IO-CM psychiatric and medical codes is essential.
    2. Communicates with people at all levels; maintain strong working relationships with hospital staff, Leadership Team and Providers.
    3. Self-starter and works independently; must be able to perform assignments with minimal or no supervision;
    4. Organizational skills, efficiently prioritizes and completes assignments to meet necessary deadlines, 5, Works successfully under highly stressful conditions;
    5. Uses discretion and makes sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles;
    6. Comprehends and communicates oral and written instructions and procedures;
    7. Adapts to varying projects and activities on a constant basis;
