Medical Records Clerk - Home Care jobs in New Bedford, MA

Entry-Level position. Pay rate: $16/hr.

Responsible for filing and maintaining all Health Center charts and medical records. Duties include scanning of medical documents into Next Gen system for electronic filing; handling of specific requests for medical records from outside providers and businesses; responding to specific requests from providers and handling of general correspondence.

• Scan into filing system in Medical Records, including scanning of documents into Next Gen for electronic filing.
• Electronically file patient related reports, correspondence and medical information accurately in patient charts.
• Check and electronically file reports received from the fax machine.
• Ensure accountability of patient charts in the record room.
• Respond to specific requests for medical records from outside agencies and businesses.
• Organize and distribute all mail correspondence.
• Secure medical record room when unattended.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA & 42 CFR regulations where applicable.
• Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to medical information.
• Other duties as required.

• Knowledge of medical records management in a clinical setting.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements in medical setting.
• Ability to file accurately and efficiently.
• Strong organizational skills and familiarity with computers.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Proven strong work history
• Minimum of a High School Diploma; courses in medical records technology preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferred.
