    We’re currently seeking a dedicated Medical Records Clerk for our skilled nursing healthcare center at Spang Crest, a Luthercare community in Lebanon, PA. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours are 8a-4p Monday through Friday.

    WHAT YOU DO:

    As a Medical Records Clerk at the Spang Crest Healthcare Center, you maintain and manage all medical records in a secure and accurate manner and in compliance with state and federal regulations and HIPAA. In this role, you’ll work with outside entities/physicians and staff throughout our organization as you provide the security and confidentiality of health information. You will also manage inventory, while monitoring, ordering and processing the billing of nursing supplies for the facility. Candidates should provide excellent customer service and maintain confidentiality regarding residents and team members. Among your responsibilities, you will:

    • Initiate the in-patient medical records and complete admission audits.
    • Maintain in-house chart organization and appearance and maintain/archive electronic charts. Perform filing of clinical information in the in-house records as needed and maintain standards and procedures of the medical records department.
    • Maintain security of health information and medical records.
    • Manage the release of information and processing of requests for information.
    • Maintain systems for filing, retention, and destruction of overflow records and discharge records.
    • Contact physicians or departments as needed to complete records.
    • Obtain and analyze discharge records within 24 hours of discharge.
    • Provide follow up of discharge deficiencies, including monitoring/mail information to the physician for completion.
    • Order nursing supplies, maintain general supply inventory, and transport supplies to the nursing stations as assigned. In coordination with the Social Services Department, track and manage resident dental, eye, and podiatrist appointments.
    • Maintain current assigned information in the Department of Health survey prep book/folders.

    Spang Crest, located at 945 Duke Street in Lebanon, is a 105-bed skilled nursing and rehab center. The community is part of Luthercare, which is a not-for-profit, faith-based, and mission-driven organization based in Lititz, Pa. Luthercare provides a network of services through its full continuum of care with three communities in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or equivalency required.  
    • Current PA Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, general office skills (including filing and organizing), proficiency with Office software programs (including Microsoft Outlook and Excel), and effective oral and written communication skills are essential to this position.
