    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Medical Records Clerk conducts high level of bill review, performs billing-insurance functions, financial counseling and follow-up for patients and provides necessary support to providers and other staff.

    SCHEDULE AND PAY

    This is a full-time (40 hour) position.

    Monday - Friday 8-5

    Wage starts at $18-$20 an hour depending on experience

    DUTIES

    • Scan all in-coming transfer of patient records.
    • Retrieves, routes, and re-files all patient records as requested.
    • Medical Records management up to and including a coordinated response, with appropriate authorization, in compliance with established policy for release of patient medical record and/or specific patient information, as requested by the patient, clinic personnel, insurance representatives, hospital departments, State and/or attorneys
    • Acknowledge and report patient comments, concerns and compliments.
    • Assist in training new employees and students.
    • Provide support to front desk in answering incoming phone calls to ACHC as necessary.
    • Retrieve random listing for quarterly audits.
    • Approve patients for the patient portal and troubleshoot problems.
    • Data entry lab, consults and other results in the medical records.
    • Bill and track payment for legal records and send report yearly to the finance department.
    • Sorting and delivering incoming mail to providers PAQ or in personal inboxes.
    • Keep up to date on HIPAA and Hi Tech laws.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School diploma or GED required.
    • Medical terminology certificate required.
    • Degree from a Business or Technical School in an office training program preferred.
    • A minimum of two years medical office experience with medical records experience preferred.
